This course surveys the most recent research in student writing processes and the best pedagogical practices for helping students improve their writing, understand course content, and become familiar with the disciplinary conventions of writing in Biology.  Specifically, the course will help graduate lab assistants (GLAs) in introductory lab sections of biological sciences assist students by introducing GLAs to the principles and best practices of teaching and responding to student writing, as fostered by the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences’ Writing Intensive Program (WIP).  WIPP 7001 supplements research-based inquiry focus of labs in a simultaneously theoretical and pragmatic way.
