To supplement our bigger discussion on AI and ethics, in this episode Red Penned we will discuss AI’s place in the most basic from of writing: the essay. In the context of traditional prose and creative works, we’ll be discussing what AI means for students in their creative spaces as well as in their classrooms. What does AI mean for the author, the academic, the teacher? Who or what is being transformed when prose become mechanic as opposed to inspired?

Guest: Dr. Sara Steger, English

Sara Steger received her PhD from the University of Georgia, where her scholarly and pedagogical interests focused on nineteenth-century British literature and Digital Humanities. She is a Senior Lecturer and the Assistant Director of First-Year Writing in the English Department at UGA.  She also is the Lead Developer for eLearning for Writers (eLW), a digital platform for writing that provides opportunities for peer review, instructor feedback, and customizable rubric structures.
