In this episode, Abigail Fisette dives deep into the effects developing skills in written word has on our mental health with one of the University of Georgia’s Journalism Professors, Lori Johnston. They talk about professor feedback, the differences in writing techniques, and Dr. Johnston’s upcoming Mental Health Writing Competition. Following that interview, Abigail chats with Anna Shoup, a student at Kennesaw State University regarding the formation of a creative writing workshop within the counseling center at the school, what her hopes are for her program, and how it came to be!



Guest: Lori Johnston and Anna Shoup

Lori Johnston is a graduate of the Grady College at UGA, who is now a dedicated lecturer at her alma mater teaching a variety of journalism courses. She is a director of the Cox Institute Journalism Lab, and has a plethora of publications tied to her name. She is soon to launch a Mental Health Writing Competition that will cover all of the disciplines and shine light on student’s work for this field. 

Anna Shoup is a graduating senior at Kennesaw State University. She is studying psychology.
